The Most Powerful Shiva Statue in the World

The Shivoham Shiva Temple, located on Old Airport Road behind Kemp Fort Mall in Bengaluru, is home to the beloved Hindu deity, Lord Shiva. The beautiful and towering 65-feet-tall idol of Lord Shiva, made from marble, is one of the first of its kind in the world. Lord Shiva is portrayed as being seated in a meditative pose, in the Lotus position, with river Ganga flowing out of His matted locks. Behind Him are the mighty Himalayas, His abode. He holds His trishul and damaru; He is wearing garlands of rudraksh and a snake is coiled around his neck. His expression is one of serenity and benevolence. This resplendent statue of Lord Shiva has a magnetic appeal, and the spiritual vibrations and energy that emanate from this majestic idol have to be experienced to be believed. In fact, this awe-inspiring statue of Lord Shiva is believed to be the Most Powerful Shiva Statue in the World. Lord Shiva’s presence can actually be felt. It is discernable and palpable. Devotees and visitors experience a sense of serenity and bliss as they behold Shiva and pray to Him. Miracles have known to taken place here, and thousands of believers return to the temple day after day, week after week, year after year, with faith, devotion and gratitude in their hearts. Time and again, devotees have shared stories of miraculous recovery and healing, and as many followers gratefully acknowledge, their dreams have been fulfilled, wishes have been granted and prayers have been answered.

What Makes the Lord Shiva Statue so Powerful?

One of the primary reasons why the Shiva Statue is said to be so powerful is attributed to the reason behind the creation of the statue in itself. It is almost like Lord Shiva ‘willed’ for His idol to come into existence. The statue was built after Ravi V Melwani, the founder of the Shivoham Shiva temple, had a vision to build a temple for Shiva, where a huge idol of Lord Shiva would stand offering solace and comfort, propagating and strengthening faith for generations to come. Ravi Melwani and his father unequivocally interpreted this powerful dream as a message from God. Intriguingly enough, despite the initial unavailability of land and paucity of funds, things began to fall in place. It was as if an unseen divine hand was at work. Dedicated efforts and focus, along with the grace and blessings of God, eventually turned this vision into a reality in 1995. The story behind its creation is truly nothing less than miraculous.

Devotees also believe that the altruistic and charitable work undertaken by the temple also makes the statue immensely powerful. The humanitarian work that the temple supports originates from a simple spiritual adage “Service to the Poor is Prayer to God.’’ Contributions, donations and funds raised from the sale of tickets at the temple are channeled towards serving and helping the poor, abandoned, and suffering humanity. When the spirit of service forms the foundation of every pooja and prayer to Him, why wouldn’t Bholenath shower His faithful followers with abundant blessings and answer their prayers?

Needless to say, this powerful statue of Lord Shiva has a very special place in the hearts of Shiva’s followers and devotees. Not just the believers, but also the visitors from different faiths are left spellbound, and inexplicably affected and drawn to Lord Shiva’s idol. Such is the magnitude of the power of the statue and the divine energy that He radiates!
